Shield of Faith

My precious son turned 4 months old today and as I was going through my journal, I was reminded of his birth.

Two days before my planned C-section, I was bombarded with negative thoughts regarding my son’s delivery. Thoughts that kept me awake at night and left me anxious because of the uncertainty of the future. My mind was filled with just negativity. I knew I was dealing with the flaming arrows of the evil one. And so I decided to counterattack the negative thoughts with the truth of God’s word. I chose to put on the shield of faith that comes from hearing the Word of God. I came up with faith declarations which I kept repeating to myself whenever the negative thoughts came.

1. I believe that God doesn’t want to harm me but wants to give me hope and a future, that my baby and I will live and live to the full. (Jeremiah 29: 11, John 10: 10)
2. No harm will come near us because God is protecting us. He will save us from the fowler’s snare. (Psalm 91: 3, 10)
3. God’s perfect love casts out all my fears. (1 John 4: 18)
4. He will direct my path as I continue to trust in Him. (Proverbs 3: 5-6)
5. I choose to cast all my cares on Him because He cares for me. (1 Peter 5: 7)
6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. (Psalm 23: 6)
7. I will taste and see that God is good. I will see His goodness in the land of the living. (Psalm 34: 8, Psalm 27: 13)
8. The joy of the Lord is my strength. (Nehemiah 8: 10)
9. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, including this C-section. (Philippians 4: 13)
10. He will never leave me nor forsake me. He is going to see me through this entire delivery. (Deutoronomy 31: 6)

Those 6 days at the hospital were very difficult but I kept declaring God’s Word over my situation. He got me through it and I’m still in awe of His faithfulness.

  1. During my critical time of illness, I relied upon many of the same scriptures you have mentioned.
I am happy you have found his faithfulness at your young age. The pin is lovely. I’ve never seen one like or even similar to it. I far past much association with women of baby bearing age, however. I haven’t even seen a diaper in six years. 😀
